Training on BSL 3 Workshop

Training Course on Biosafety Level 3

This workshop, held on November 14-15, 2024 in Vientiane Capital, marked the final session of the QMS training series. It brought together 11 participants from various organizations to learn about managing Biosafety Level 3 (BSL3) laboratories, which handle high-risk pathogens like tuberculosis and avian influenza. Key topics included contamination prevention, waste decontamination, equipment maintenance, and lab area management.

Hands-on sessions covered N95 mask fit testing, using biosafety cabinets (BSCs), and spill decontamination techniques. Experts from Mahosot Hospital and the Institut Pasteur du Laos shared real-world experiences, while participants explored strategies to strengthen safety protocols and documentation standards. The training emphasized creating a local network to enhance collaboration and biosafety practices, with future opportunities for international training on the horizon!
